Ginkgo Earrings

A symbol of longevity for good reason, the ginkgo tree is a "living fossil" -- it's ancestors date back 270 million years! The distinct fan-shaped leaves turn a brilliant sunny gold in Autumn and the trees are hardy enough to ornament country roads or beautify urban streets. 

The original models for my sterling silver ginkgo earrings were life-cast from leaves I collected at Alfred University in beautiful rural Western NY. Ginkgo trees line the main entrance road to the campus next to Harder Hall (the Art building!) - where I spent most of my time at college.
